The 2024 Foothills 10 Mile Trail Run is scheduled for November 10, 2024, and we are excited to present an incredible trail race that promises an unforgettable experience. Prepare to conquer challenging single-track sections while immersing yourself in breathtaking scenery, crisp mountain air, and the awe-inspiring skies of Albuquerque.

The Foothills 10 Mile Run showcases the rugged Sandia Mountains, the stunning foothills high desert landscape, and the City of Albuquerque nestled in the Rio Grande Valley. Starting at approximately 6,500 feet, the ever-changing terrain of the foothills trails takes you through the Elena Gallegos Open Space and Cibola National Forest, ensuring an exhilarating journey with each mile.

Our race features best-in-class long-sleeve technical race shirts and a large heated area at the staging point to keep you toasty warm on a crisp November morning. We offer two conveniently located parking areas with free shuttle bus service to and from the race, making race access easy for both runners and spectators. Our race also provides all participants with free race photos from the expert photographers at Lobo Photo New Mexico!

After crossing the finish line, enjoy amazing local New Mexico breakfast burritos, locally brewed root beer from Canteen Brewing, coffee, and other refreshments.

The Foothills 10 Mile Run awards prize money to the top five finishers in both male and female categories ($1000; $700; 500; $400 and $350). We also have first place age group prize money for both males and females 15-19; 20- 24; 25- 29; 30- 34; 35- 39; 40- 44; 45- 49; 50- 54; 55- 59; 60- 64; 65- 69; 70+ ($75). There will be medals for the top 3 finishers in each age group.

The Foothills 10 Mile Race takes pride in providing runners with the best race experience possible. The race takes place at The City of Albuquerque’s Elena Gallegos Open space and is easily accessible to Albuquerque’s amazing places to eat, drink, and stay.     There will be buses (Boston Marathon style) to transport runners, volunteers and spectators to the race site and back. The buses will be running from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

  • This is a moderately high altitude course with over 900 feet of elevation gain. The terrain is challenging and unforgiving so please stay on the marked trail. Medical staff will be ready to assist at any time during the event. There will be radio communications personnel along the course, ready to assist. The event personnel have the right to withdraw anyone from the event that appears distressed or at risk. We encourage and advise runners to stay hydrated to prevent dehydration. A water station will be located on the course providing water and ice.

  • There will be three course preview runs to familiarize runners with the course. It’s a great way to get ready for the race especially if runners are not familiar with the course.

  • Your friends can stay updated on your progress and receive live status updates from the course. You can also enter your Facebook information if you want your splits and final time to be posted there.

    All registered runners will be issued a bib with a B-Tag timing chip. You must wear your bib so that it’s clearly visible on the front of your torso.

  • Finishers will be treated to New Mexico breakfast burritos, local donuts, local coffee, a live DJ, and more awesome stuff that will be announced soon!

  • The Foothills 10 Mile Run awards prize money to the top five finishers in both male and female categories ($1000; $700; 500; $400 and $350). We also have first place age group prize money for both males and females 15-19; 20- 24; 25- 29; 30- 34; 35- 39; 40- 44; 45- 49; 50- 54; 55- 59; 60- 64; 65- 69; 70+ ($75).   • Bag Drop will be south of the finish line under The Bosque Running Company tents.

The Foothills 10 Mile Run utilizes Jackrabbit Race Management to time this race. Jackrabbit is a local New Mexico company specializing in the staging and timing of athletic events. Jackrabbit’s timing services provide real-time and immediate streaming results for participants.
