The 2026 Foothills 10 Mile Trail Run presented by the City of Albuquerque will take place on November 8, 2026. This is an incredible trail race that promises an unforgettable experience. Runners will enjoy challenging single-track sections while taking in breathtaking scenery, crisp mountain air, and the gorgeous skies of Albuquerque.

We are excited to announce a 5k run/hike option is back for 2026. This is perfect for everyone at any fitness level to enjoy the beautiful trails.

Starting at approximately 6,500 feet, the ever-changing terrain of the Sandia Mountain Foothills trails takes you through the Elena Gallegos Open Space and Cibola National Forest, ensuring an exhilarating journey with each mile.

Our race features best-in-class long-sleeve technical race shirts and a large, heated area at the staging point to keep you toasty warm on a crisp November morning. We offer two conveniently located parking areas with free shuttle bus service to and from the race, making race access easy for both runners and spectators. Our race also provides all participants with free race photos from the expert photographers at Lobo Photo New Mexico!

After crossing the finish line, enjoy amazing local New Mexico breakfast burritos, locally brewed root beer from Canteen Brewing, coffee, and other refreshments.

The Foothills 10 Mile Run awards prize money to the top five finishers in both male and female categories ($1000; $700; 500; $400 and $350). We also have first place age group prize money for both males and females 15-19; 20- 24; 25- 29; 30- 34; 35- 39; 40- 44; 45- 49; 50- 54; 55- 59; 60- 64; 65- 69; 70+ ($75). There will be medals for the top 3 finishers in each age group.

For 2026, we are pleased to announce that USATF members who finish on the podium in the 10‑mile event will receive bonus prize money from USATF, in addition to the standard prize money.

Train With Jane

Our exclusive Foothills 10 Mile & 5k Training Program is led by Jane Cudney-Black. Coach Jane is an RRCA Certified Coach with years of experience helping women successfully achieve their goals.

Coach Jane will help runners improve overall fitness, build aerobic endurance, develop running technique, meet new friends, and challenge yourself. We are excited for Train with Jane participants to achieve the ultimate reward of crushing their 2025 Foothills 10 Mile & 5k Run goals!

Training Program Includes:

  • 10 week training group starts August 29th, 2026.

  • All levels welcome - 10 mile, 5k, hike!

  • 3 runs per week (Thursday + Saturday + 1 on your own).

  • Shoe clinic at Sport Systems.

  • 15% off race entry.

  • All this for only $80
